In today’s world having busy working moms and children always busy with their lives and moms couldn’t plead their children enough to drink a small glass of milk!

Today, I am going to tell you my one of my favourite paneer cutlet recipe.

Won’t it be eager to hear if I say you could deliver the nutrients in a different way where your child will automatically peek into the kitchen and finishes of the snack while you are cooking?

How about a paneer (soft cheese) cutlet? Now, you are wondering whether is it really nutritious? Is it cooked with oil? So, is that oily fried snack really healthy for my child?

Paneer is a soft cheese, which plays an important part in Indian cuisine, and like any other food, is nourishing and healthy when taken in the right amounts. Everyone loves the creamy, chewy taste of paneer.

In fact, it is the vegetarian meat! This paneer cutlet is mostly made as an evening snack for kids after school.

1. How Paneer Is Made?

Paneer is made by curdling milk using food-derived acid from lemon, sour curd, vinegar or citric acid. The curd is then sieved using a muslin cloth to separate it from whey.

2. Nutritional Value

  • Paneer is a good choice for proteins expressly in vegetarians. Containing 82-86% percentage of protein it has 9 essential amino acids. Proteins are essential for maintaining growth, repairing tissues, boost our immunity, maintains blood volume and it is an essential part of every hormone and enzyme.
  • It contains 20% of fats. Being rich in saturated fats, they also have healthy monounsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats also lower cholesterol levels. Oleic acid, the main monounsaturated fatty acid regulates in lowering our BP.
  • Being loaded with calcium, phosphorus and vitamins, they are incredibly beneficial for our musculoskeletal system. Calcium alone can’t improve our bone health. It needs phosphorus along with its regulatory functions.

3. When Should You Introduce Paneer To Your Child’s Diet?

  • You would probably know that most of the paediatricians mostly advise us to keep dairy products away from the child until he/ she turns 1 year old.
  • Especially cow’s milk is not recommended at all until the child turns 1 year. Follow a three-day rule for your child so that it will be easy for you to identify in case of any allergic reactions.

4. Paneer Cutlet Recipe

Ingredients needed:

  • 1 cup of dried crushed paneer
  • 3/4 cup of boiled mashed vegetables like peas, potatoes, sweet corn and tomatoes.
  • Small, chopped green chillies – 2 to 3
  • 1/4 cup of bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp- ginger paste
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 medium-sized onion
  • 1/8 teaspoons of turmeric
  • 3/4 tsp garam masala powder
  • A tablespoon of coriander leaves chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper and cloves if you want them spicy

Preparation :

1. Boil veggies till they are cooked well. If you are using sweet corn, boil them for a few more minutes. Mash them using a blender.

2. Let the mash cool down well. Add them in a bowl and add the bread crumbs, ginger paste, salt, cumin, turmeric,garam masala powder, coriander leaves and chillies.

3. Mix them well to make a dough. If the dough is too soft, add more bread to get the correct consistency.

4. Make patties according to your favourite shape. It may be round, oval or circle. You can make even hearts using patty shapers. The patties should not be too thick or thin.

5. Heat the oil in the pan.

6. When the pan is heated , put patties on the pan and fry them. Flip them to the other side until they become golden and crispy.

How To Make Paneer Cutlets?

1. If you don’t want to use oil, preheat the oven to 220°C.
2. Take a baking tray and grease it well with ghee or butter.
3. Make small thin patties.
4. Bake for 10- 15 mins.
5. Flip then to the other side until they become golden brown.
6. Serve the delicious aloo paneer patties with chutney or tomato ketchup!
