Babies often go crazy with candies. Never encourage your baby by giving candies as a bribe or reward. Instead, try to give them traditional healthy sweets.

Rava also is known as Sooji, Bombay Rawa is a durum wheat product and a form of semolina. It is made by grinding husked wheat and is used in Indian cuisine to make Rava dosa, Rava idli,upma, khichdi and also sweets like Kesari, Rava halwa, Rava ladoo.

Rava may be described as the residues of milled material after the flour is ground in a flour mill. It is passed through a fine-mesh till flour and Rava are separated. Semolina is a common food of West Africa, especially among Nigerians.

2. Health Benefits Of Sooji

High In Protein And fiber- This slows digestion process and regulates the bowel movements of the body.

Promotes Weight Loss- Semolina is high in several nutrients that promote weight loss. It can reduce the feelings of hunger and prevent future weight gain.

Additionally, a study which holds 252 women found that an increase of 1 gram of dietary fibre in their diet per day can result in a weight loss of 0.25 kg in 20 months. It can be helpful in obese babies.

Increasing protein in your diet also promotes weight loss. Review of 24 studies notices that a higher protein diet resulted in a weight loss of 0.75 kg.

Rich In Iron- Iron is an essential mineral of your body. Sooji is an excellent source of iron which helps in the production of red blood cells.

Semolina is rich in nutrients like fibre, folate, magnesium which protects your heart and reduce the risk of heart disease in future.

Sooji Kheer

Sooji kheer for babies can be given on completion of 6 months and after starting solids.

Ingredients:

  • Sooji -1 cup
  • Ghee – 2 tablespoon
  • Water – 3 cup
  • Elaichi powder – 3 cup
  • Dry fruits powder – 1/2 teaspoon

Method:

  • Firstly, dry roast sooji in a Tawa. Use it when it is powdered.
  • Secondly, in a pan, heat 3 cups of water and allow it to boil.
  • Thirdly, add the roasted sooji slowly to the boiling water and mix without lumps.
  • Stir sooji continuously.
  • When the sooji gets 3/4 cooked, add ghee.
  • Last but not least, after the suji is well-cooked turn off the flame. Elaichi powder can be added. You can add date sugar as a natural sweetener.
  • Serve your baby.
