Wheat? What I knew when I was a kid, I had a pretty crazy habit of just eating the dough alone which my mom used to prepare for chappathis and the second thing was it taste really good when it turned out into a fluffy, hot pooris with mashed potatoes and peas. Yummmmmmm!

The most awesome thing in the poori was we could just want to swallow the whole poori without disturbing its dimension but we have no other choice than to poke out the pooris with our fingers. Poori is a kid’s thing and chappathi is an adults thing.

As the fluffy poori cracks, our heart also gets cracked! Am i only having the these kind of weirdest thoughts in my mind? Just let me know in the comments that I am not the only craziest foodie in the globe! haha!

After I grown up into a physician associate, I learnt that wheat is a gift for the diabetic individuals. Yeah, I also come across patients eating chappathis for the breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 weeks and having a victorious smile after their glucose tolerance test! That’s great! Isn’t it? Having the disease to be cured by our diet and exercise is the best thing in the universe!

  • The archeological report suggests that wheat was cultivated in the region of Fertile crescent around 9600 BCE.
  • Botanically, wheat kernel was called caryopsis.
  • In 2019, it was the second most produced cereal after maize.
  • Wheat is grown to some extent on every continent except Antartica. Wheat nearly needs 110 to 130 days between sowing and harvest.
  • It depends on climate and soil conditions as well.
  • The kernel is a seed from which the wheat plant grows. It has three distinct parts.

  • Besides, it also have magnesium, zinc thiamine, folate,potassium and phosphorus.
  • Vitamin E- It acts as a healthy protective agent from cell membranes to brain cells.it also plays an important role in good immune function, detoxification and fighting free radicals.
  • Omega 3 fatty acids- it is a good source of Omega 3 fatty acids which help in lowering cholesterol levels and reducing inflammation and support our nervous system as well.
  • Copper- copper is mostly present in low content in western diets. Having a good corporate level they help to to prevent heart diseases.
  • Low glycemic Index- People having diabetes should be aware of their carbohydrate consumption since they can increase your blood sugar tremendously.
